What is “Au Pif?”

Google Translate says “at random,” but I believe the correct translation is “by the nose.” Unless I’m trying out a new recipe, this is usually how I cook. Add a little of this, a little of that, just till it looks right. Sure, some dishes (especially desserts) are a little more picky than this, but for the most part, I have no problem tweaking recipes till they’re just the way I like them. Yes, “au pif” is definitely my style of cooking (when I can get away with it).
